Adds mp3 support and cropping capability, among other things. Works under 7.4.1 if you follow the directions.

I know it says here that if I ‘follow the instructions’ version 1.5 will work with 7.4.2 However, it doesn’t seem to for me. The ring tone I created is not listed as a ring tone in intunes and it is not synced to my phone. any ideas?

The ringtone I created is indeed listed in my ringtones list in iTunes but is not showing up in the synclist when you go to sync for some reason and thus never gets pushed to the iPhone. The App seems to work up to the last final part……..

It looks like the download link for version 1.5 points to version 1.2. This may be why it isn’t working.
September 22nd, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Seems I can only download v1.2. Got a link to the new v1.5?

Go to https://iphonexe.com/app.php?id=70 to grab the latest version (as stated above ).
Looks like 7.4.2 squashed this one, if you have 7.4.1 it still works, rename the .m4r to .m4a before you drag into iTunes though.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:37 am
The links at https://iphonexe.com/app.php?id=70 are still pointing to v1.2, not v1.5.

Yes. That is version 1.2. However, according to the developers blog 1.5 should work with 7.4.2. The problem is the download link at https://iphonexe.com/app.php?id=70 still points to 1.2.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:01 pm
The download page should let you get the Studio Edition of Ringtonator. >_>
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:27 pm
I don’t think there really is a version 1.5. Lots of folks have posted about the 1.2 vs. 1.5 issue and nothing is being done about it.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:30 pm
I forgot to mention that I tried the suggestion of “admin”, still get 1.2.
September 23rd, 2007 at 1:30 pm
I think that’s the point. It *should* let you get version 1.5 of Studio Edition, but it’s still linking to and downloading 1.2. Every URL points to 1.2, even the one that was just changed.
September 23rd, 2007 at 2:01 pm
Yup. The zip file name changed from 33619.zip to 99990.zip but the zip archive still contains 1.2.
September 23rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Where are you guys getting the 1.2 from? I feel like I’m overlooking something really simple here. I’ve tried downloading from a couple different computers, they all give me Studio Edition (1.5). If it has the double slider, it’s v1.5.
September 23rd, 2007 at 6:47 pm
still getting 1.2 here too. i am running 4.4.1 (2) but still no luck. work until the final part. cant wait to get the right version and add soe tones
September 23rd, 2007 at 7:18 pm
What I am seeing is that there are two download links off the ringtonaor page (https://iphonexe.com/app.php?id=70) that point to the same zip file:
http://apps.iphonexe.com/99990.zip
One is at the very top of the page with the text:
Ringtonator Std. v1.5
The other is at the bottom, prefaced by the text:
Download URL:
When I download this zip file, it contains version 1.2. It has only one slider.
Is iphonexe.com mirrored somehow? It sounds like we are hitting different servers.

We are getting 1.2 from the about menu. It creates m4r files, and they drag into iTunes 7.4.2 ringtones section, but they do not sync to the iPhone. I have tried this with mulitple files. Have you tried syncing the files to an iPhone.
September 23rd, 2007 at 8:33 pm
Same results for me. m4r is created, plays in iTunes from the ringtones list, shows up in the iPhone Ringtones page but errors on sync saying it cannot play the file. This looks like 1.5 if the double slider is the tell-tale, but the About info still says 1.2. If this is 1.5, it doesn’t work.
September 23rd, 2007 at 9:20 pm
I misunderstood about the double slider. The version I’m seeing at http://apps.iphonexe.com/99990.zip has the double slider but a version number of 1.2 in the about info. I can copy the created ringtone to the ringtones section of my iTunes library but I am not able to sync it to my iPhone.
September 23rd, 2007 at 9:29 pm
My guess is the about page was simply not updated. However, I don’t think the application was fully tested. I have iToner on my machine. naybob and spudicus, are you using it? Has any one gotten it to work under 7.4.2 and iPhone software 1.0.2?
September 24th, 2007 at 7:21 am
I managed to:
- “convert” to ringtones - OK
- dragged them to iTunes - OK
- sync to iPhone - FAILED
If anyone has it working please let us know.
September 24th, 2007 at 8:15 am
I able to get ringtones synced with iToner. I use Ringtonator to crop the m4a file and create the m4r file. I then rename the extension to m4a and sync to my iPhone with iToner. The downside to this is that iToner is nagware and it makes you wait progressively longer each time you use it. It is only 15.00 USD but I am reluctant to buy it because it is so easy for Apple to break and the trial period is 30 days. If it survives the next update I’ll probably buy it.

i wish this worked. i just doesnt transfer to the iphone. oh well….
September 24th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Alright, I have a bit of time to work on it tonight. I’ll change the version strings, and we’ll say that this only works with iTunes 7.4.1 for now. I’ll also give it another bump up to 1.6, and make it so that it automatically adds the ringtones (in 7.4.1) to your iTunes library.
If anyone has a ringtone that syncs under 7.4.2, shoot it my way (). I’ll give it a look.
Thanks for your patience, I don’t have much time for this project, but I try.
